Marine Spatial Planning Training and Workshop

As a crucial component of sustainable development, environmental protection efforts, and our Blue Homeland, Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) has gained importance on Turkey's agenda. In this context, in cooperation with the Regional Activity Centre of the Barcelona Convention Environmental Programme (PAP/RAC), the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change's General Directorate of Spatial Planning conducted Marine Spatial Planning training. This event brought together representatives from central and sectoral institutions, non-governmental organizations, local administrations, and academic circles to contribute to the knowledge base in our country. The training and workshop were held on June 12-13, 2024, at Ankara Point Hotel with the participation of expert educators and practitioners. The training aimed to inform participants and enhance their skills in effectively managing and protecting marine resources. It covered national and international practices and methods in Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and was conducted in English.

As part of the training, an interactive session called the "Marine Spatial Planning Game (MSP Game)" was organized to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and improve their skills in spatial planning.

The Marine Spatial Planning Training and Workshop Program, held on June 12-13, 2024, at Ankara Point Hotel, was supported by the participation of Prof. Dr. Can Elmar Balas from the Marine and Aquatic Sciences Application and Research Center (DENAM).
