Mission and Vision

Mission: To cultivate researchers in the field of marine and water sciences who can lead society while respecting national, cultural, and social values; to contribute to our country's research and application activities by generating, sharing, and implementing knowledge through pioneering research.

Vision: To sustain research and application activities with the vision of becoming a leading research country that achieves sustainable development by protecting the environment and reinforcing it with local resources and knowledge; produces using clean technologies; manages all types of domestic and industrial waste within the framework of environmental protection principles; protects biological diversity and transforms it into social benefits; and preserves its historical and cultural heritage for future generations.

In its activities, the center prioritizes:

a) Collecting existing data and creating databases for current data in Türkiye's water bodies and marine environments.

b) Conducting hydrodynamic, morphological, and water quality studies specific to water bodies using advanced technologies (monitoring and modeling).

c) Determining the cleansing duration of water bodies.

d) Understanding the interactions between water bodies and land use and taking necessary protective measures.
