The Director of the Marine and Aquatic Sciences Application and Research Center (DENAM), Prof. Dr. Lale Balas, and DENAM Advisory Board Member Prof. Dr. Can Balas have participated in the 17th International Coastal Symposium (ICS2024), organized by the Coastal Education and Research Foundation (CERF) and the Journal of Coastal Research (JCR), and hosted this year by the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST). They contributed with eight papers and served as session chairs in two sessions. DENAM participated in the symposium with a total of eight papers.
The papers will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Coastal Research (JCR), which is indexed in the Web of Science Q3 category.

In addition to the presented papers, Prof. Dr. Lale Balas and Prof. Dr. Can Balas have served as session chairs in two different sessions under the theme “Coastal Management, Policy, and Planning.”
Before the symposium’s closing gala, H.E. Dr. Mustafa Göksu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Qatar, visited Prof. Dr. Lale Balas and Prof. Dr. Can Balas at the Sheraton Hotel—where the gala was to be held—and received information about the symposium.
